930 Blues  Cafe' Artist

Born on the 4th of July, this firecracker was meant to perform and celebrate. Miss Jacqueline Bell moved from Monroe, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi at the age of twelve. Dr. Randolph Watson, a music instructor who encouraged and taught her professionally, soon recognized her talent. Her first venture was gospel with the “Voices of Faith Choir.” Her wide vocal range and crowd-pleasing performances soon made her a sought-after artist.

She has performed with local and national artists for twenty years. At the age of 26, she was asked to tour nationally. Her international tours have included Mondena, Pesscara and Sicily, Italy.

Upon her return from Europe in 1999, Jackie began her solo career. She released a mini CD, entitled Old Man’s Sweetheart, which gained recognition by local and national radio stations. The title cut of the CD was nominated by Local Recording of the Year 2000 by the Jackson Music Awards Association in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2001 and 2003, she was nominated for Local Female Vocalist of the year by the same association. This time the single, Eight Hours too Long from the same CD sealed the nomination.

Within that three-year period, Jackie began to work for ABM Entertainment Incorporated, a business entity of Attorney Isaac K. Byrd, Jr.  As an employee in this capacity, performances have been numerous. She has performed in Chicago, at Tougaloo College, The Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival and for many other benefits and festivals.  Fall 2003 plans include a benefit for the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, the Isaac Hayes Club in Memphis and a four-week tour of Japan.

In February 2002, Jackie’s career escalated to another level. The 930 Blues Café was born and she became a permanent member of the Houseband entertainment. She performs with the Houseband, Bernard Jenkins and the B-Kats. She has opened for 930 Café performers such as KoKo Taylor, Sam Myers, Big Bill Morganfield, Willie King, Michael Burks Roy Roberts and Nappi Brown.

As The 930 Blues Café’s popularity as the Blues entertainment center grew, Jackie’s popularity grew as well. 930 Blues Café publicity in magazines such as The Travel Host, Jackson Free Press, MS Business Journal, Newsweek, International Japan, The Clarion Ledger and most recently, Southern Living Magazine have included lengthy articles on Jackie Bell.

The intensity that Jackie makes happen during a performance is amazing. She “makes” fans wherever she performs and frequently proclaims that she tries to “spoil” her audiences. They in turn spoil her. Whether it is one set or all night long, “Miss Sweetheart” gives her all. Her intense, Blues performances are quickly making her a household name around the Jackson, Mississippi area. Close your eyes and listen to Jackie croon a saucy Billy Holiday tune and you are back in a smoked-filled dive living the blues of the fifties. Blink your eyes and you are listening to a raw Ruth Brown sing about her man and the blues he left her. Her stirring, passionate, fervent, fanatical music, laced with racy, sexy moves and dress will continue to assure that Blues is here to stay. .

Jackie is at her best out front; she loves to perform. She writes, composes and arranges most of her material. However, it is her gift at reading the audience and involving people in her performances that truly make her “Miss Sweetheart”. This explosion of a firecracker, will assure audiences a 4th of July celebration any day of the week!
